The Boys are Back in Town

A walk on one of our days off.  As we walked through the fields we could see in the distance a group of 12 red deer.  I had the Nikon v3 with me and the 75-300mm attached (which gave me an effective 810mm lens).  While it was at the extreme of the range and having to use high ISO, I was still able to confirm that all of deer were older males.

From my observations the males split from the females and young at this time of year, only coming back together again in the autumn for the rut.  Last year there were 10 males within the group so we've had a couple of younger males promoted this year.
