The site of the old Post Office

in the centre of Bury St Edmunds, looking through the fence. Some serious work is going on in preparation for a new building, including this enormous screw contraption, presumably putting down concrete piles for stability. The front façade (off to the left) has been retained and is being propped up - see second photo. The Post Office has moved to the first floor of W H Smiths shop next door. This was not a popular move as it requires the use of stairs.
