Mistle Thrush ( Turdus viscivorus )
When we got up there was, by this winters standards a lot of snow, about 5 cm (2"). This had an effect on the birds, knowing which side their bread was buttered on (no I don't feed bred) they were at the feeders in numbers far greater than we saw for "The Big Garden Birdwatch".
The snow covering much of the food for ground feeders brought a couple of Mistle Thrushes into the garden after the windfall apples. These are very infrequent visitor to the garden and usually they are up among the branches and not suited for photography.
I liked this shot as it has the female Pheasant pecking around in the background. I did catch one as it flew down from the squirrel feeder but because I also got the wall outside the window in shot it looked as if it was doing a Kame Kazi dive into a solid wall.
