I was sad to learn of the passing of Captain Sir Tom Moore yesterday at Bedford Hospital, after he contracted Covid.
He raised nearly £33 million for the NHS charities by walking laps of his garden in the months leading up to his 100th birthday. He raised our spirits during our first lockdown and inspired millions through his actions. He served in the Duke of Wellington's Regiment in 1940 and earned an officer's commission and fought in the Burma Campaign.
The last year of his life was incredible. He was knighted by the Queen in July for his efforts, and he also made a best selling record with Michael Ball of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'. He was quite a man! His most famous quote was 'Tomorrow will be a good day'..... and I like that! This was also the title of his autobiography published in September.
Our weather today is a bit unpleasant, 3degrees C and damp, snow on the ground but thawing, but more snow expected in the next 24 hours. It feels raw!
I have only taken one photograph today, of the meat and veg bakes I made this morning, one for dinner and the others for the freezer. Also made a batch of mushroom soup. (not shown)
