Ocean Life
I really enjoyed doing this jigsaw on ocean life which was a xmas gift. It was just the right level of difficultly, but with enough detail so you could work out by sight what goes where (I don't like loads of same shade blue sky where you fit pieces by lots of trial and error). The builders arrived this afternoon to do a couple of bits outside, including anchoring a wall to my bungalow wall as it was starting to move fractionally. They used a resin for one part, which I could really smell strongly inside. Bizarrely my sense of smell seems hypersensitive at the moment, given also the strong smell of daffodils which I can't normally smell at all.
Day 325 / Day 30 of Lockdown 3 (for my record only)
UK deaths up 1,322 to 109,335 (revised basis), with 19,202 new cases, 32,851 patients in hospital, 3,638 on ventilation and 2,651 new admissions. c10m have now received their first dose of the vaccine, a great achievement. More good news today with the Oxford vaccine group saying designing a new jab would be a quick process and those to tackle the new variants would be ready by October. There are ongoing discussions with regulators as to what trial data they would need. Bad news that unbelievably an optimistic 20,000 people a day contacted by T&T are not self-isolating when told to do so (between 20 & 40% of those contacted). There is still no date for the start of the hotel quarantine scheme for those entering the country - weird! Up to 600 players, officials and staff will have to self-isolate after a positive case was identified at one of the Australian Open's quarantine hotels. A playbook of rules has been published for athletes and officials to follow at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in the Summer - I still think it's unlikely to go ahead. Good to see that Ryanair has been ordered to remove its 'jab and go' advert - so irresponsible. The PM is encouraging people to clap for Capt Sir Tom and healthcare workers at 6pm tonight, there was a minute's silence in the Commons earlier.
