RIP Captain Tom

I love a biography. 

Not the ‘Here’s how many famous people I’ve slept with’ sort but the ones about ordinary people who - literally, in this case - stepped up to the mark and did something unexpectedly awesome that made the world a little better.

Understandably, every news outlet has been awash today with not only tributes to Captain Tom but with stories about others he inspired, not least young Tony Hudgell, who has, I'm sure, in turn inspired many more.

The vast majority of amazing people will never be known to the wider public and will certainly never have a book written about them but no doubt one of Captain Tom's legacies is that we all now know it’s never too late - and you're never too old or too young - to make a difference.
