Toast
It was a dismal old day and I somehow needed to work out how to pick the car up from the garage. I had a short gap at lunchtime when I thought I’d just bite the bullet and try to whizz in on my bike in the rain but by good luck my friend had the same time gap in her schedule as well so came through to give me a lift in.
On my way back I called in at Cranston’s. I’ve been missing lots of things lately, including fresh mussels from Norfolk, as well as Norfolk of course, the geese, the marsh, the sands ...
So, I got some mussels from the fishmonger (she’s full of useful advice ... first frozen mussels for me but it means having some in the freezer still for another time), a shallot, a leek and some bread.
After work we toasted Fanad, enjoyed the moules in wine and just completely immersed ourselves in Rick Stein’s ‘Secret France’ remembering the good old days. Looks like I’ll just have to drink that second glass then ...
It had to be our beautiful wedding gift glasses, of course.
Bit of a mish mash for afters ... but then it is a jumbly old world ... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tFQBcALE5c0
