Bloomin' marvellous!

I was so excited today when I had a look at the young Witch Hazel that we had planted back in September. For the whole of January I had been hoping to see some blossom appearing, but to no avail. Then today there it was, tell-tale miniature golden curls starting to push their way through their protective covering all over the little shrub. In addition, the "nuts" were bursting open to reveal lots of seeds inside. It was the highlight of my day!

Later on, I had a second highlight to my day when, for the first time ever, after trying nearly every day for the last six weeks, I managed to win a game of chess against N!!! :-))))
