I think my days are beginning to blur.  Yesterday was better than Tuesday, when the Central heating really decided to play up.  Andrew, central heating engineer, came to look and in the end we decided to order a new thermostat, though I did manage to get it working when it was taken down from the wall and placed on the table downstairs.
