Windmill

I took in a very urban walk this morning, doing a spot of shopping on the way back. Sky was blue when I set out but by the time I reached this old windmill it was a bit dull and misty. This was built in the early 19th century, it was used as an amateur astronomical observatory and during the last war was manned every night by local air raid wardens as it was the highest point in the area. Now looking sadly neglected with some modern housing just in view, but still a lot of older homes in the vicinity. Nice to walk around quite a hidden area that I’d forgotten about!
