Haselor

This morning  we decided we could 'do' another village, albeit a local one.  Haselor is about five miles out from Stratford and is quiet enough to stay isolated whilst we were there.  The church at Haselor, St Mary and All Saints, is situated about a quarter of a mile out of the village, on top of a fairly steep (in my opinion) hill.  Apparently the original village was demolished following a plague epidemic, let's hope this habit is not picked up on during our current pandemic!

There are some nice walks from the village, including the one we took up to the church. It is a few years since we've been there, probably we were living in Temple Grafton the last time.

Unfortunately the church was closed to the public, I had a nice chat with a local church warden who was tending the flowers.  There are some lovely displays of snowdrops in the grounds, and in the woods beyond.

It started raining as we were heading back to the car, so good we managed to get out this morning.   After lunch I made a Ribollita,  a mixed veg soup with cannellini beans and sprouts (it should be cavolo nero,  but I only had sprouts).  That's tea sorted.
