The beck is lively as it channels meltwater off the moors and down to the river.

I don't usually view it from this spot; it's off-path and involves slipping down a steep slope, ducking under a strand of barbed wire (that stops the horses from wandering in) and then the same in reverse. But in winter, with the lack of foliage, a nice view is afforded of the sinuous stream.

If being a Geographer is good for anything, the appreciation of rivers is one of them.
