Black Country Living Museum

Had to visit the Museum today to get my COVID jab - whilst in the queue I was passing various photos - too close to get whole photo but this one made me smile called the Pit Bank Wenches at the Blue Fly Pit in Wednesbury circa 1890 - Yoe doe get much stronger than a pit bonk wench (earned about 1s. 3d a day/shift - 8 hours). Employed for sorting and loading the coal - so glad didn’t live then!
