Self-Portrait

I recently bought a lastolite softbox, with the intention of improving my lighting skills, and what better way than a self-portrait to begin?

I've got a lot of good ideas from Neil van Niekerk's Tangents blog http://neilvn.com/tangents/flash-photography-techniques/ and this is an early step in putting some of that good instruction to use.

Whether you think it works or not is up to debate. I'm outrageously un-photogenic, and yet I rather like this photo...
