I had been up for 45 minutes when this scene was taken. Spring has arrived and is forecast to stay 3 days. Gotta make the most of it.

Spent the whole afternoon outside half naked (relative to this being mid-winter), no socks in plastic clogs and doing spring-clean like jobs. Sadly had to establish my fears on the bees was correct. The two hives are dead. All the signs are of too few bees to maintain the colonies over the winter. I have to reckon on it being my fault with late timing of last honey harvest and late varroa treatment. As MrB says when these things happen, look to the beekeeper for the problem, not the bees.

On a positive note our PV on the roof produced enough to fill our battery for the first time this year. Reacted too late & should have done at least one washing machine load - we ended up "giving away" 5 kWh to the grid. But at least we can claim to have saved the world 12 kg of CO² today, 24 tonnes since June 2017!.
