It Was Sure a Pretty Day
We weren't but twenty miles from home and managed to have a three week vacation in a couple hours. Got a sandwich in Davenport, a few miles up the road, then drove on to Waddell Creek and had a picnic on the beach. It's often too windy there to get out of the car (it's a wind surfing paradise), but today was magical: no wind, no crowds. Further on to Ano Nuevo State Park, home of the elephant seals. No guided tours to see the animals, but a couple trails were open and we had a fine walk. Such glorious sun and fresh air! When we got home I fell sound asleep before supper.
I'm pretty sure this field is oxalis. There were great stretches of blinding yellow on both sides of the road. Wild mustard is, well, more mustard colored. The tractor is part of a collection at one of the farm stands. Check out the picket fence in Extras.
