Male Goosander

The current on the White Cart was very strong and the pair of Goosanders were really struggling to paddle up stream.  The female was at the far side of the river so my best chance of a photo was to concentrate on the male.

I went as close to the river as I could but the best photo opportunity was there for any passing photographer as I slipped and went my length when climbing back up to the path. A helping hand was offered and I gratefully accepted assuring my helping hand that I was more than OK ...only my dignity was a bit bruised.  Fortunately I was wearing my waterproof trousers and once the mud dried it was quickly brushed off.
