Storm Damage
On 25th January there were some nationally severe storms, and in fact 45 people lost their lives. Winds exceeded 100 mph in the south, trees crashed over cars, glass blew in, lorries overturned, roofs blew off and one and a quarter million people were without electricity.
At the Old Forge damage was limited to a couple of roof tiles falling through the conservatory roof. This was taken as verification for insurance purposes. The tumble drier had come with me from Chesham and is still in use today.
