The G Man Departs
I'm genuinely a bit sad today. It's the end of a era. It was the leaving night of my boss, Andrew. He's been there since I started, nearly 4 years ago. It's not always been a rosy time. I think he's made some stupid decisions. He's annoyed me when he's taken the balanced view when taking sides may have been more effective.
We only see things from our own perspective though. We don't always understand the pressures others are under or why they do what they do. What's important to recognise is that most people have good intentions and I always believe Andrew has tried to do the right thing. I'll miss him.
I was surprised that I was so bright when I woke up. I've been quite sad the last few weeks and haven't slept well. But it was sunny, I had recovered quickly from last night's savage swim session and was ready for the day. After a good breakfast, I loaded up a heavy rucksack and ran through the valley to Newton to catch my train. It's around 8km and I did it in 35 minutes. Mind you, it's nearly all downhill.
