Ember

My granny had a coal fire as her main source of heating, and one of the things I absorbed through watching her was rules about cleaning out the fireplace. She was strict about never putting the ashes straight in the bin. Today I finally understood why I do this: there were still embers from last night.

Monday done. Usual stuff, fine.

Cold though, this house struggles against the north wind.
