Ought to sleep well tonight
Eight hours of pulling logs out of the forest and all by hand, probably 2x 3x more than last time. The photo doesn't quite catch this as behind my back are the largest stumps (chainsaw, petrol canister and bucket are placed on them).
This time had to cut most of the logs before "sledging" them home as they were simply too large. Found one single tree top which hadn't been cleared & that provided the small logs on my left.
Perhaps tomorrow start on the splitting & sawing to size (35cm lengths).
Only managed one of last nights "strong" beer bottles (and then only in 2 sessions with a cup of coffee between) so maybe I might try to down the 2nd bottle & hope I get back some strength!
Missed the Pope's farewell as was still outdoors. Germany & Bavaria are no longer Pope (as reported when he was appointed). Raised as a R.C. but with loads of problems with (fanatical) religion of all faiths. I do think that Benedict was very devoted to the job but one that he never wanted and didn't fit his personality at all. The Vatican intrigues, the political wheeling dealing and the public appearances etc is not his world. A very humble and highly intelligent theologian who has probably found the last 8 years pretty miserable. His decision to retire I find superb & wish him a wonderful and hopefully healthy retirement.
