Ashby High Street

This is an early painting of the High Street in Ashby de la Zouch on a very quiet day! The best day to go is on Saturday when the fruit and vegetable and antique stalls are out - it is really busy with people looking for bargains!
It is a very old town and used to be the centre of a coal-mining area, but the coal ran out and became too expensive to mine about fifty years ago, and it is now a little country market town.
