Cold calm

Bitterly cold, but the mix of grey clouds and sunny intervals made for some fantastic lighting this afternoon. It is all enhanced by changes to some of the trees, signs of Spring despite the weather - for example catkins are emerging on the alder and birch, which in this lighting give those trees a soft purple sheen.

We like this area. Some of our other options have closed off, too busy and paths too narrow. Walks should be about keeping calm, not feeling anxious, and this walk is just fine from that point of view.
