Whose law is it when everything goes just fine?  This ancient massive cherry tree had for many years been threatening to come down, or at least shed branches, on top of some important old azaleas and rhododendrons.  Any of the normal south-westerly gales could have taken it that way.  Instead a freak northerly gust last week felled the whole thing cleanly in the one direction where it would do no damage.
