A Chieftain In Winter, The Valley In Between

I've been given one more day at home before having to go back into work tomorrow so decided to make the most of it by going on a winter walk with my brother through the Valley In Between. Pylons are like regular punctuation marks across this landscape. So today, rather than try and exclude them from my images I thought I'd try and incorporate them instead.
The main image is of an abandoned trailer about half way on our route, with an electricity sub-station just out of shot and a solar farm just up the hill. The valley itself is not strikingly beautiful but for some reason is a wonderful place to get images. The valley, in places, is very close to the river and areas of the scrubby land sometimes seem to act as flood plains during wet or wintery weather. Instead of brackish water, though, the land had been claimed in places by thick, black opaque ice that seemed to be trying it's best to swallow half-submerged trees into it's inky depths. It was quite a sight, like something from a feverish dream.
By the time we got back we were frozen, even though we both had multiple layers on and had pulled our hoodies up in anger at the biting wind. It was worth it, though, to see the valley in all it's winter moods.
