Cold sunset in Mote Park

The very light snow we’ve had since Sunday stopped this afternoon and the sun came out for an hour or two before setting. Still a cold biting northerly wind that did little to thaw any lying snow.

We used our spikes on our walk this afternoon. We bought them quite a few years ago after a winter ascent of Bow Fell (https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/2144596584057277337) where they would have been very useful. This was the first time they’ve ever been used. We were grateful for them as the pavements and side roads were sheet ice by the time we arrived back home.

Susan was with her mum for a couple of hours while she had another session of physiotherapy. Susan said that while he’s very patient with Doreen he doesn’t pull any punches with her telling her the exercises are vital if she wants to retain any mobility.

Meanwhile, I was on a zoom call with the Kent and East Sussex Railway discussing a new education programme for families, walkers, photographers and other groups to add to their experience when visiting the railway.

Apparently there was a very successful “Day at the Railway” for photographers run by a member of the Tenterden Camera Club who sadly passed away last year. There’s so much to interest any photographer apart from the usual shots of steam engines storming Tenterden bank or waiting at the station or trundling along the line. There’s workshops, signal boxes and all the other paraphernalia found on a heritage railway.
