Project 365 day 40: Rosehips are Red
When I popped across the road to deliver avocados and cauliflower from the supermarket delivery to my neighbour, who was 95 today, I found various pairs of rosehips, very red against the snow and in suitably intimate poses for today's Valentine themed Tiny Tuesday. Yesterday every tiny twig was heavy with snow; today much of it has blown off, but there are also quite a lot of twigs, catkins and berries with their own little ice droplets. It's bitterly cold: the radiators are piping hot, but the house still feels chilly. The pavements are treacherous, and the Tesco driver told me he had abandoned more than half his scheduled deliveries this morning because of impassable lanes. The many single track roads with passing places which climb the sides of the valley to the top of the downs are always difficult when it's icy, and although the snow is not deep, there are some significant drifts. I'm grateful that we don't need to go anywhere and can just enjoy the views.
