Still Death
Okay, I'll start with a very simple observation; Why when people paint a bowl of fruit, vase of flowers etc is it caused a still life? Surely once the flowers / fruit have been picked then they are not alive anymore?
Anyway, I was inspired by a fellow blip the other day from Liffers of a vase of flowers that had not been thrown out almost a week after they'd been bought.
Pah!
A week, that's nothing.
One of the issues of having a big house, and working 5 days a week with 2 children, is that we quite frequently forget things in rooms.
We have a sofa and TV in the kitchen eating area, and as such we can go a long time without setting foot in the living room.
So not much of an effort to forget to empty the dead flowers (they weren't dead when they arrived) that we were sent for Christmas.
Yup, that's right Christmas!
So, about 60 days ago.
Luckily they were quite a dry arrangement to start off with, and I don't recall either of us topping up the water; so never noticed a whiff of them (but then, that could have been for not going into the room).
Anyway, they've now gone into the compost bin, and the vase is now soaking.
