WestConnex St Peters

Met K after work for a stroll around the perimeter of WestConnex, the massive interchange the other side of Sydney Park.

Land above the M8 tunnel, under the flyovers and in unused corners had been earmarked for parks and cycle paths. Unfortunately, the site is a former rubbish tip and the earth is contaminated or wrongly “compacted”. One new hill has already suffered a land slip. The promised park is fenced off, tantalisingly out of reach.

I couldn’t resist the woman (extra), and her footwear, on the train home. Ascending the station steps she hitched up her skirts like an Edwardian lady.
