The Meaning of Iris

I have always thought that irises were symbolic of hope but digging a little deeper I found lots of further qualities represented by an iris: vitality, beauty, purification, perception, awareness, creativity and femininity amongst others. The goddess Iris used rainbows to move around between worlds and we get the word ‘iridescent’ from Iris which can be a reminder about expressing our true colours.
Or we might just enjoy the colours and variety of this gorgeous early flowering plant.
