The right kind of snow?       Recently there have been several heavy falls of snow.leaving the countryside looking very pretty.  On Sunday and Monday the snow was like a dry fine powder which would not be suitable for making snowballs or snowmen.  Probably excited children would think that is the wrong type of snow.   Since then the snow has fallen mainly as wet snowflakes which could be easily pressed together to form snowballs or even igloos and so forming the right kind of snow.
As the powdery snow does not solidify under pressure it can be cleared by the machines which suck it up and blow the snow and is ideal for skiing as it doesn’t clog the under surface of the skis.   However wet snow ls better cleared with a shovel or snow plough and not suitable for a blower machine so possibly authorities say that is the right kind of snow for easier clearing of roads.   Although perhaps it forms snow drifts more easily and can be heavy to shift..  Whatever kind of snow it is, the local authorities have had a busy time trying to keep local routes open but not those to the Scottish ski slopes where skiers are missing the super “right kind of snow” conditions due to Covid restrictions.
