Digging for . . .
There's not a great variety of walks if you're not to get your boots muddy around here, and I wasn't booted for mud, so we stayed on roads (not that the roads are up to much, either, with potholes upon potholes where poor patches have sprung in the cold and wet weather).
Which took us past this development in the centre of the village. It's a large space that's being developed (see the Extra for a view from the air) and the process at the moment seems to be one of smoothing it out. The large piles of homogeneous rubble will be used for hard core, where it's needed.
Not great news on the moving front: our vendor in Dorset is ready to exchange contracts quite soon, but hasn't yet booked removals (it's going to be tricky!). Our conveyancer up here in Cambridgeshire has just sent a form letter telling us, again, that she can't guarantee our completing within the Stamp Duty "holiday". ¿Qué pasa?
This was after yesterday's email in which she told us that the searches would not be ordered until 19 April. We met that problem by taking out indemnity insurance and doing some of our own searches, and we thought that that would speed things up hugely . . .
. . . I suspect that the poor girl is worked off her feet; we have to trust that she'll do her best for us.
