Project 365 day 42: Peachy
It's been a beautiful day, and for once I can't decide which photo to share. It began with this lovely peachy dawn over fresh snowfall, which wins for the light though not the composition. Later in the morning I walked round the garden and orchard under brilliant blue sky, trying to capture the Impressionist colours of the shadows on the snow, and played with a couple of abstracts I might have used for today's geometry theme. The snow in the orchard was halfway up my wellies, and the air was stingingly cold despite the sun. I could see tiny, distant people sledging down the huge hill from the top of the downs, but there was almost no traffic - the roads are terribly icy with compacted snow - and it felt very still and peaceful.
As well as that lovely half hour outside, I've managed to rescue and prepare the best of some rather weather-worn greens from the garden, which P used in a very tasty stir-fry, hand shredded all the peel for the second batch of marmalade, which is now simmering overnight in the slow cooker before being transferred to the preserving pan to boil with the sugar tomorrow, and supported J with some work for the online course she has just started. I don't often accomplish this much between the daily demands of care, so I'm ending the day beside the fire with a nice, warm glow.
