Silk purse from a sow's ear
My lovely Hellebores have been flattened and damaged by the cold weather. There was me reluctant to cut them, preferring to see them in the border, but when I returned from doing Mum's shopping etc. this morning, they looked so sad I cut them all and brought them indoors. Quickly plonked them in a glass as I was having a messenger chat with a couple of friends at 1pm. An hour & half later, I made a late lunch, then tried to arrange the blooms in a vase, some of the stems were really droopy so this is the best I could do. The vase is a slab pot that I made years ago, 40 odd years ago, when I was at college. I cut a few stems of the Salix 'Mt Aso' to go with the blooms. The pussy willows are not out fully but the plant is covered with buds so should look a treat in a week or so. I managed to take plenty of cuttings last year when I pruned it so must check on them. They are on my nursery (charity stock) bed at the allotment.
I had an sms from my doctors surgery this afternoon inviting me to book my first Covid jab, dates & times available everyday next week so I've got that booked. Very straightforward.
Hubby is into watching Foyle's War, Midsomer Murders, & Poirot, I keep spotting actresses & actors for series that I used to watch .. Geraldine James was in tonight's episode of Poirot. I loved watching The Jewel in the Crown, & Band of Gold. He's watching Doc Martin now, Stephanie Cole playing Doc Martin's aunt. Tenko was another tv series I enjoyed. A brilliant cast.
I knocked up a chocolate sponge mix with some beaten egg wash I wanted to use up while making dinner tonight. It made 4 large-ish muffins. I'm eating one now with my coffee. They're rather yummy!
Thanks to BikerBear/Anni for hosting Flower Friday
