2021 Thursday — Fresh Baked Bread
Several weeks ago a friend uploaded photos to her social media of the bread she had just made. Several of her friends, including me, commented that her creation looked lovely and that they would sure like her recipe.
Well, she made copies of her recipe “Garlic Fontina Cheese” and mailed it to each of us. As I opened the envelope, I realized it was soon going to be time to turn my “wanting” into “doing.” After a couple trips to the grocery store I had all the required ingredients including a cheese I had never heard of, Fontina cheese.
So this collage of photos shows a portion of my process — a large bowl of kneaded dough, then it gets “punched” down and made into two loaves and let to rise again, then baked, and finally a loaf is sliced and enjoyed.
My verdict is that it was considerably more delicious than it was beautiful. It was my first attempt at making bread in decades (I think as a young wife, several times I made sourdough bread from a “starter” kit that my mom gave me).
So that was my Thursday accomplishment.
