Balcombe Tunnel Junction

This important, but long gone signal box on the Brighton line, south of Three Bridges, controlled the point where 4 running lines became 2.

It is located on the edge of Tilgate Forest and the authorised walking route to the signal box was a 2/3rd mile trudge through Brantridge Forest. There was no running water, it was delivered daily, each evening, in a 6 gallon churn on a parcels train.
