Hope springs eternal?

4 years ago, when holidaying in Snowdonia, Anna took a single leaf from a beautiful plant in a pub. She nurtured it and it grew into a small plant and it flowered in subsequent years on Eddie's birthday.

After being neglected in the summer of 2020, the plant shrivelled and we are now left with a solitary leaf once more. It has been in a shallow glass of water for some weeks hoping to encourage green shoots - to no avail. Anna reports that it is "slightly dead" but has now repositioned it into this spacious mausoleum. Is this the end of the story?
