Lucky find
There I was in the front yard, happily watering the mandarin tree, and idly wondering what was chomping the newest leaves. Here's the culprit - and I don't mind one bit. It's an advanced (3rd instar) of the Dainty Swallowtail butterfly caterpillar (Papilio anactus).
The caterpillar won't do a great deal of harm - the tree will recover and all things being equal, we'll get a Dainty Swallowtail in Autumn. It'd be great if I could keep track of it and find the pupa.
