Outdoor Socialising
Today's Blip is more of a record shot in some ways. This was the main event of today - nothing beautiful or spectacular, just interesting, and maybe only interesting for me.
So, we had visitors, staying in The Red House and we socialised outside, with mulled wine, sourdough bread, mature cheese and some chutneys. The fire (extra) was burning nearby, but to be honest, it only warmed us as we fed it with wood, or fanned it into life etc.
What always surprises me when we do this outdoor socialising is how comfortable it is. Okay, we are well wrapped up but that's no problem, and when we get going it feels like we could sit here forever. When our visitors headed off for home we actually stayed out another 2 hours or so. We were building a wall of snow as a windbreak, and in my case a bit later clearing old snow and ice off our bathroom roof. That was more hot than cold!
When we socialised my feet were slightly cold as we sat and chatted, and as I cleared snow my hands were slightly cold, but nothing too drastic. A very slight discomort is just a sign you are still alive! I shall endeavour to remember this, and spend more time outside even when Covid is just an old memory.
Once back inside we produced a delicious simple meal to celebrate Valentine's Day.
A lovely day, in this lovely winter.
