Rob’s Snaps!

Wednesday night lights

Another long grinding day of systems failure, test, re-run, test again, fail again. The sun was down long before we got out for a walk. After a warm day, 37C at the peak, the evening was still a warm 32C, and the busy streets were testament to it. Summer at last.

On the corner of Carrington Street and Pulteney Street is the site of the Devon Arms hotel, built in 1850. The hotel was replaced around 1880 by the Earl of Aberdeen Hotel, a classic bluestone corner pub, which has been extended and modernised over the years. A major renovation took place in 1987, the new Cooper’s Alehouse being opened officially by Dame Edna Everage, no less.
