Its not all gone
Today was a good day, Monday was not.
I had a couple of ton bags of top soil delivered last week, whilst the snow was on the ground, and was eager to use it. So weeks ago I started preparing a new flowerbed. After some time of inactivity caused by the weather Monday looked good to return to this project. So I moved off and packed the tarpaulin covering the site, dug up and distributed some rotted horse poo, very wet but serviceable and emptied the wheelbarrow of its contents. I then found some planks of wood to use going over the site and finally located my spade (never an easy task).
All this took a couple of hours but I was finally ready to rumble. However when I came to move the topsoil I found it was still frozen solid. I could not get my spade into it at all. I has two ton bags of Tundra. Whilst I am sounding light hearted now at the time I was not. Having replaced the covering on the site I sunk into a very black mood for the rest of the day. I think the cumulative effect of lock down just overflowed following this, really very minor, disappointment. No blip done on Monday.
Yesterday was much better and today I have moved all the soil into position, weed suppressing fabric cut and laid temporarily and the surrounding patio cleaned. The new bed is almost ready for planting and I am much happier.
Interestingly my earlier blip of this flowerbed was entitled Blue Monday. The 15th Feb was obviously the second one of these this year.
