Breda -- Breda Noord

Visited our old neighbourhood today, out of both nostalgia and curiosity. What a change! And yet not all that much is different. There was one spot where I know a couple of houses used to stand, later demolished and replaced by a modest apartment building, which is gone now as well. In its place there is now a grand public library, a beautiful building, which I might blip in future, but not today.

My target today was the old bridge near our former flat, around the area of which we used to take the kids for a walk as well as take our own walks. Of course it's winter, so the trees are bare, but I had the idea that even with the leaves back it would still look a lot more empty than 20 years ago. I actually have a shot of some of the flats, and they have been painted nice birthday-cake colours, but it was a grey day and somehow was not in the mood to show those.

Breda Noord is where we spent the first 4.75 years of our marriage, penniless but not starving, just getting by and wondering if we could afford to dream a bit. A lot of dreams have come true since then! This area could do with a bit more dreams, as well. At least it's not as run down as I almost expected it would be.
