A social occasion
Special thanks to Joe Tree who started Blipfoto and to all the volunteers who have seen this site through some difficult patches.
Spotted this ivy-clad tree as I was walking through town. I had never noticed it before. Life now has slowed down and we notice things we never knew were there.
Once upon a time, a year ago to be precise, a trip to the optician to collect a new pair of glasses would have taken ten minutes, something squeezed in between other social events.
Today it took the best part of an afternoon, what with dressing up to go out, well, finding something else to wear other than my old anorak and walking boots. As the sun was shining, and there was a Springtime feel to the air I wanted to make an effort.
Just as well I did. The town was full of people, many with dogs, where did all these dogs suddenly come from? I never knew Bridge of Allan had so many dogs.
And then there was the bonus of unexpected encounters with friends, not that they were instantly recognizable behind their masks.
Who would have thought that a visit to the optician would be the social highlight of the day?
But this is the new normal, life in the middle of a pandemic.
