The Ash Tree

Around almost every field is an Ash tree and they bring great joy in winter despite losing their leaves because their clusters of burnt sienna coloured seeds cling onto the tree until late spring. This simple act beautifies the tree making it dramatic and distinctive.For some time the Ash has become my favourite tree but it is endangered from Ash die back.  This leads to leaf loss and crown die back and even the loss of the tree itself. Several trees have been culled as a result and this makes the Ash more important to appreciate when I see it growing strongly,  like the young tree in my photo.
