Final Day
I would that I could
Hold back the hands of time
And hold with strong arm
The cruel twists of fate
That sweep, stiff, broom-like
Through lives in their prime
For one I remember
For one it's too late...
Yey, finally some more weight can be put on the leg...so I managed to get out of the house, and see my Grandma Peggy before I head back to France tomorrow. Really happy that I got to see her before I left, as I won't be back in England for over six months...scary thought really. When I'm in France I keep in contact with her via the medium of letter, as she refuses anything technological in her house! But somehow it makes it more special waiting for the letter to arrive. On the other hand my Grandma Sylvia has embraced technology, having a computer, email and Skype as well as following me religiously on here...so in a way I feel like I am able to keep in closer daily contact with her. Anyhows, less pontification, was so lovely to see Grandma Peggy...even though it makes me sad that I won't be able to see everyone now for a long while.
In other news my new camera bag arrived today! I decided I needed a bag that didn't scream camera bag, and would allow me to carry round other things other than a camera as having the two bags is a bit stressy sometimes. This bag does not shout out camera bag, like my other one (which I always feel uncomfortable carrying around to be honest), but still has all the padding and gizmos to keep the camera safe. Very good buy.
This picture is of the RSPB Marshside Wetlands, about a two minute drive down the road from my house. Described from the website as 'There's something for everyone all year round at this delightful coastal reserve. In the spring you can see brown hares boxing in the fields, while in the early summer you'll spot nesting birds like avocets and lapwings. During the winter months the skies fill with visiting waterfowl such as pink-footed geese and wigeons, not to mention birds of prey that can set flocks wheeling over the marshes.' All I saw were these swans, reflected quite nicely in the water. Was rather disappointing that the skies were so grey, but I tried my best! Did I mention it was also rather cold, with a bitter wind? Needless to say, I didn't stay too long trying to get the right photograph.
Final night at home with my parents tonight. It is going to be a while, and it seems like the harder I try to fight again time the quicker it goes. I guess it is better to be busy than be bored...
