wet and wetter

The Rainy Day

My life is cold, and dark, and dreary;
It rains, and the wind is never weary;
My thoughts still cling to the mouldering Past,
But the hopes of youth fall thick in the blast,
And the days are dark and dreary.

Be still, sad heart! and cease repining;
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining;
Thy fate is the common fate of all,
Into each life some rain must fall,
Some days must be dark and dreary

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Its been wet and windy all day long and more rain forecast for tomorrow. These poor animals didn't look very happy when I passed them on my walk. It was the first outing for the waterproof trousers which I bought with my Christmas money and they were excellent - kept me warm and dry.
I was up earlier than usual so I finished my book and wrote a couple of letters. I've also done quite a bit of housework and the hat is almost finished, so rather a productive day (whatever that means - is a productive day one in which the "to do" list gets shorter or one which leaves us feeling happier? Or both, if we're lucky?)
D is making the tea tonight so I am lying in the sofa with my feet up and the fire blazing away. Not cold, dark and dreary at all..

Today's walk - up to Boreland and Hall  of Drumpark. 3.15 miles. Wet and windy.
