Walked this way - Kukas

Today Houblon and me, plus ButhaleziBird and 3 other friends took the new snowshoe trail from Elamanluukku cafe, up the side of Kukas, and down to Navetgalleria cafe (which used to be called the "Flying Cow") - great name - shame it's not used any more...

It was a glorious day, blue sky, hardly any wind, and millions of sparkling ice crystals on the snow caught by the sunlight. It was pretty cold as well - about -20 overnight and probably about -15 for most of the walk.

When the snowshoe track traversed tantalisingly below the summit of Kukas, me and Houblon decided to climb to the top. We've been there on skis many times - it was a lot easier to get there on snowshoes and, from my perspective, much easier to get down!

This isn't the best shot I took today, but it sums up the part of the day I enjoyed the most, coming down off the summit, making our own trail back down to the snowshoe track.
