Smart bins

Our lovely City Council had installed these solar powered public litter bins along our local high street. The bins contain sensors which activate a compacting mechanism to crush the waste when they get full, thereby avoiding the problem of overflowing bins. They also have smart technology which informs the depot when it needs emptying. Clever or what? All part of our city council’s Green City Plan. We’re lucky here in Southampton to have a Labour Council who care about such things!
