Lovely family hack out this afternoon. The kids don't like walking and swapping half way and at least this way Buddy got a bit of exercise too. Tobes is a little nervous on him just because he's so much bigger than Jack but did really well and settled into him on the ride.
I rode Lime this morning. Had a few probs getting him out of the field as Spring (the feral mare) is in season and went nuts when she realised I was taking one of her boys away. She was bombing around and screeching for him all the time I was getting him ready and he got really wound up to the point I nearly decided not to ride.
He was ok on the ride but some idiot mountain bikers in the woods came hooning down a bank and skidded to a halt. They came one at a time and I thought that after the first one spooked Lime he might have called out to his mates to wait up and give me time to get out of the way before they did the same. But no. Because obviously their fun is more important than other people's safety. And that unfortunately seems to be the prevailing attitude of people round here. I also had numerous idiots overtaking me in their cars on blind bends because obviously they are far too self important to be held up for 30 seconds to wait till they could see. I can't wait till the shops are open again so they can all go back to traipsing round those on a weekend instead of driving like lunatics through country villages. And don't even get me started on the amount of litter everywhere now there's so many more people out 'enjoying' the countryside.
So I tried really hard to have a nice relaxing stress-free ride, which I really need at the moment but it wasn't to be. But this afternoon was lovely so that made up for it.
