Not an ice-storm, more an ice-drizzle

One of the more interesting weather phenomena we sometimes get in winter is super-chilled rain.  Yesterday we noticed it was both raining and -5°C. Today we went out and checked the cars to find them completely encased in a 2 mm thick layer of ice, which is very hard work to remove. Tomorrow the temperature is rising to over zero so hopefully the ice will naturally disappear. Otherwise we'll be warming the interior of the car with a special fan-heater and melting it off.
In some parts of the world they get serious ice-storms, but fortunately we only seem to get this gently irritating version.
PS Maybe I was a little optimistic in my "gently irritating" description!
An update - just got this message from Claire about her drive home...
The journey home was slow and tiring! Fairly OK as far as Övik but after that it was -8 degrees and rain! The windscreen kept icing over so I had to stop and scrape it about 4-5 times. Initially I thought there must be something wrong with the car ... but since everyone else was also pulling over to scrape their windscreens I figured it was the extreme weather. I ended up driving in a sort of convoy of cars, creeping along at 50 km/hr. Very slow driving but we made it home safely!
